HBP System has 29.96kW of Solar PV installed!
Computer software and systems specialist HBP Systems has installed a Solar PV system on the roof of its head office premises in Scunthorpe.
The new system has been designed, installed and commissioned by the multi award winning Local Green energy company Flixborough Eco Technologies, and is the first phase of an alternative energy solution that will later incorporate batteries so unused electricity generated from sunlight can be captured and stored for future use.
Managing Director at Flixborough Eco Technologies, Giles Barker, comments “the roof of the HBP Systems offices was an ideal location for generating solar energy. It has great east-west and south aspects, so we have put up two arrays of solar panels to make best use of the available light from all usable roof space. The result is a 30kW solar power station that will make significant energy savings for HBP Systems, and highlight their green credentials.”
As well as the solar panels and batteries, the Flixborough Eco Technologies has also helped HBP Systems to reduce the amount of electricity it needs to run lights in the building by switching to LED lamps, which offer the greater light levels from much smaller amounts of power.
HBP Systems’ Operations Director, Tony Pearson, said “the company was looking forward to seeing reductions in its electricity bill but it’s not just about making the business more cost effective, as significant as that is. What’s also important is that we do everything we can to minimise our impact on the environment. Reducing our reliance on energy generated using conventional sources means we are running our business in an environmentally-responsible way, which is good for everyone.”
